Rafter party is a common tradition in Estonia, marking the construction work reaching a new stage and expressing gratitude to the whole construction team. According to Ain Tammvere, the CEO of Estiko Energy, construction at the Raadi park has progressed well on track. “We have now reached a milestone where nearly 15,000 solar panels planned for the first phase have been installed on frames and are awaiting interconnection," said Tammvere.
In March, substations necessary for connecting the solar park to Estonia’s largest electricity network operator Elektrilevi’s main grid are expected to arrive at Raadi. The solar park stands out for its incorporation of green spaces dedicated to conserving protected plant species, as well as its fence design that allows small animals to move freely.
The ambitious project not only emphasises solar energy production but also explores innovative solutions for energy storage and enhancing the value of the generated green energy. For instance, Estiko Energy plans to utilise produced green hydrogen in transportation and as a raw material in the chemical industry.
The Raadi solar park is scheduled to be fully completed by the summer of 2025. The main contractor for the project is Smartecon, with whom Estiko Group has previously partnered.
