Estiko-Plastar, the leading packaging manufacturer in the Baltics, is launching the construction of a new warehouse, following the signing of a construction agreement today with Embach Ehitus. The project will double the company’s warehouse space, increasing the number of pallet positions to nearly 8,500. The total investment amounts to €6 million.

“Estiko-Plastar has grown into a major packaging supplier for the Nordic and Baltic markets, and our aim is to expand in line with our clients’ evolving needs. A larger warehouse will allow us to better forecast, store, and deliver goods, providing our clients with reliability and speed—even in volatile market conditions,” said Meelis Jürgens, CEO of Estiko-Plastar.

The new facility also paves the way for production restructuring and automation. As a first step, the company will invest €3.5 million in a next-generation printing press, increasing print throughput by 10–15%. This will be followed by automation of the cutting process, further enhancing production efficiency and ensuring competitiveness in the rapidly evolving packaging market. Automating workflows will boost operational efficiency while supporting the upskilling of employees in a transforming industrial landscape.

Estiko-Plastar’s total investment in upgrading its existing production complex will reach nearly €6 million, covering both the warehouse construction and the production modernization efforts. Construction is scheduled to be completed by this autumn.

“This is a significant and well-conceived project that supports the development of modern manufacturing. We are pleased to be Estiko’s partner in bringing this initiative to life and contributing to the growth of Tartu’s industrial and business environment,” said Andres Salusaar, CEO of Embach Ehitus.

“This investment is not just about one company’s expansion—it is part of Estiko Group’s broader development strategy to increase efficiency, strengthen competitiveness, and invest in sustainable, smart solutions across all our business areas,” said Kristo Seli, CEO of Estiko Group. “Our roots are in Tartu, and we intend to stay deeply connected to this city—providing jobs, contributing to urban development, and being a trusted partner to both our clients and the community.”

Internationally known as Estiko Packaging Solutions, Estiko-Plastar is the flagship company of Estiko Group. With over a century of history, Estiko is Southern Estonia’s largest investment company, headquartered in Tartu and active in four core sectors: packaging and packaging materials production, real estate development and management, hospitality services, and energy production.

Estiko-Plastar has evolved from a historical comb factory in Tartu into a high-tech, globally recognized provider of packaging solutions. The company serves markets across the Nordics, the Baltics, and a broad international customer base. Estiko-Plastar is a trusted partner for the food industry and other sectors that value environmental sustainability, innovation, and reliability. Recently, the company expanded into Poland, where its subsidiary Sefko supports the strengthening of Estiko-Plastar’s position in the global packaging market.
