Estiko Grupp opened applications for the new season of its Team Estiko scholarship programme, providing a total of €100,000 in support to Estonian athletes and coaches. Young athletes, established athletes and coaches are invited to apply by 21 October.
Team Estiko was launched in 2025 to support the development of Estonian athletes and coaches. In its first season, scholarships were awarded to six established athletes, 15 young athletes, two coaches and two teams. This season, scholarships will be awarded in three categories: young athletes, established athletes and coaches.
“The first Team Estiko scholarship programme showed us just how many dedicated athletes and coaches there are in Estonia who have clear ambitions and are willing to work hard to achieve them. This year, we want to continue supporting people for whom a scholarship can make a meaningful difference by giving them more opportunities to focus on training, competing and reaching their next goals,” said Kristo Seli, CEO of Estiko Grupp.
The young athlete category is open to promising athletes who have already achieved strong results in their sport and are looking to take the next step in their development. The established athlete scholarship is intended for athletes already competing at a high level, while the coach scholarship recognises coaches whose expertise and commitment contribute to athletes’ development and performance.
According to Neinar Seli, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Estiko Grupp and a former elite athlete, long-term commitment is essential when supporting sport. “Athletic development takes years, and throughout that journey athletes need good coaches, the right training conditions and opportunities to compete. Through Team Estiko, we want to help create more opportunities for Estonian athletes to pursue their goals and continue developing,” said Seli.
During its first season, Team Estiko also awarded scholarships to teams. This season, team support will be provided separately from the scholarship programme, taking into account the different seasons and competition calendars across sports.
Estiko has a long history of supporting Estonian sport. Its partners and initiatives over the years have included the “Märka järgnevat põlvkonda” project, the Neinar Seli Fund of the Tartu Cultural Endowment, the University of Tartu Academic Sports Club, Tartu Sports Association Kalev and the non-profit organisation Märka Järgnevat Põlvkonda.
Applications must be submitted by 21 October via the application form on the Team Estiko website, where applicants can also find the full terms and conditions and further information about the scholarship categories.
